Cinderella Lesson Plan
This is a lesson plan from the start of a unit on fables or fairy tales. The lesson itself is an introduction to a famous fable - Cinderella. The lesson has accommodations for both students with IEPs and ELL students. The lesson includes a YouTube clip, graphic organizers, and post instructional planning. The lesson is intended for 8-10th grade students.
Death of a Salesman Lesson Plan
During this lesson, students are expected to act out particular scenes from Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman. The lesson uses improvisation to help teachers gauge student comprehension and props to help students who may not feel comfortable in front of the room. This lesson also includes WIDA standards for ELL students.
The Giving Tree Lesson Plan
In this 7th Grade Language Arts mini-lesson, students will discuss the theme of Shel Silverstein's book The Giving Tree. The class will first hear the story and then tackle elements of plot, focusing on theme. Once theme has been discussed, the idea of personification and what it means is expressed. Students will then get completely random objects and write a story, giving the object human traits. Examples of objects include pens, sunglasses, desks, shoes, and a skateboard.
Poetry Newspaper Project
This project is designed to be a group project at the culmination of a unit on poetry. The students are to work in groups and create a newspaper (after a lesson on AP style) with articles that relate to a specific poem. Each student is responsible for at least one article, and as a group they contribute to the overall look and feel of the newspaper. The rubric for grading is attached here.
"The Highwayman" Lesson Plan
